Sir Alex Ferguson arrives at Manchester United's Carrington training ground this morning amid speculation that he is poised to announce his retirement.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has kept to his daily schedule amid widespread speculation that he is considering retirement.

Rumours have been rumbling overnight that the Scotsman is ready to call time on his 26-year career in charge at Old Trafford, with the decision possibly being made this week.

While the club have neither confirmed nor denied the reports, Ferguson was spotted arriving at United's Carrington training ground as normal around 6.50am today.

It has been suggested that the club will make a statement this morning regarding Ferguson's potential retirement.

It has been reported that any announcement made will be in accordance with the rules of the New York Stock Exchange, where United are listed, as any changes with regards to the running of the club need to go through the Stock Exchange first.
