David de Gea targets title challenge for Manchester United

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea targets a Premier League title challenge after their 3-0 win over Liverpool.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has set his sights on a Premier League title challenge after Sunday's 3-0 win over Liverpool.

The Spaniard turned in an eye-catching performance and made a number of saves to deny Raheem Sterling and Mario Balotelli as goals from Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Juan Mata sealed the win for United at Old Trafford.

De Gea told Sky Sports News: "We have to go step by step, game by game. We want to be in first position but we need to keep training hard and playing like this.

"I'm really happy with the three points against Liverpool, of course. We played a very good game, we scored three goals and that's fantastic.

"In the first half I saved two against Sterling and the second half Balotelli. We scored three goals and it is unbelievable."

The victory moves United to within eight points of league leaders Chelsea.
