David Luiz: 'Angel di Maria will boost Paris Saint-Germain to another level'

David Luiz believes that Angel di Maria will boost Paris Saint-Germain's chances of winning the Champions League if he joins from Manchester United.

Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz has expressed confidence that potential new signing Angel di Maria will improve the French side, particularly in the Champions League.

The Argentine is expected to complete a £45.9m move to the Ligue 1 side from Manchester United today.

The 27-year-old, who joined the Red Devils from Real Madrid for a British record £59.7m fee last year, failed to live up to expectations by scoring just three goals and making 20 Premier League starts.

Despite Di Maria's disappointing season at United, Luiz is excited by the prospect of the winger moving to Parc des Princes.

"We want to win the Champions League and of course Di Maria is a player that can help us go up another step," Luiz told reporters.

"Di Maria is one of the top three wingers in the world - he's fast, technical, he plays for the team, he knows how to play as an individual, how to pass, how to score.

"He will love playing in the French league just like I do. He is my friend and I love him."

Luiz joined PSG from Chelsea last year.
