Nathaniel Clyne: 'We need to be at Manchester United's throats from the start'

Liverpool full-back Nathaniel Clyne states that his teammates need to be at the throats of Manchester United from the off ahead of their derby clash at the weekend.

Liverpool full-back Nathaniel Clyne has insisted that his teammates will need to be at Manchester United's "throats from the start" ahead of their looming derby clash this weekend.

The Anfield club travel to Old Trafford on Saturday evening looking to bounce back from a humbling home defeat against West Ham United, and Clyne has suggested that the Reds will need to put pressure on Louis van Gaal's charges from the off.

"Playing at Old Trafford last season with Southampton and getting the three points was a great feeling. It was a well-deserved victory; we played really well and you have to be on top of your game if you want to come away with three points," Clyne told Liverpool's official website.

"Working hard, playing on the front foot and taking the game to them is going to be key. We can't allow them to pass the ball around as they like to or have too much free space.

"We need to be at their throats from the start, not let them settle in the game, and with the quality we have up front we can cause them problems."

Clyne joined Liverpool from Southampton for a reported fee of £12.5m earlier in the summer.
