Daley Blind wants to be leader for Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind believes that he can become a leader on the pitch for Louis van Gaal.

Daley Blind believes that he can become a leader on the pitch for Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.

The summer signing from Ajax has been a key feature in the centre of midfield for Van Gaal's side so far this season, with the United boss claiming that the 24-year-old was a better player than his father.

Danny Blind won the 1995 Champions League under Van Gaal and assisted him with the Netherlands team at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

When asked about Van Gaal's comments, Daley told the Manchester Evening News: "I read it. I hope I become a bit of a leader like my dad was, but I am still young.

"I am still improving and this is a new era for me, coming to a new area. But I can be [a leader]. I have to learn it and have to keep it up but I am learning every day, including about being a leader."

Blind has made four appearances for United so far this season.
