Manchester United suffered an unwanted Old Trafford first during their chaotic 4-4 stalemate with Bournemouth in Monday's Premier League classic.
Three times the Red Devils took the lead at the Theatre of Dreams, and three times they were pegged back, while also overturning their own 3-2 deficit in arguably the game of the season so far.
Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and Matheus Cunha all registered for Ruben Amorim's side, but Antoine Sememyo, Marcus Tavernier, Evanilson and Eli Junior Kroupi responded for the Cherries.
The eight-goal extravaganza at least saw Man Utd preserve an astonishing Old Trafford record, as the 20-time English champions have still never lost a Premier League game at their home ground when leading at half time.
Casemiro's header put the Red Devils 2-1 ahead just before the break, and the hosts have now won 302 and drawn 26 of their Premier League home matches in which they have gone into half time with the lead.
Bournemouth set new Old Trafford record in 4-4 Man Utd thriller
However, Man Utd also set an unwanted club record, as Bournemouth became the first team to ever score at least three goals in three consecutive Premier League matches at Old Trafford.
The Cherries had stormed to back-to-back 3-0 wins over Man United at the venue during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 campaigns, meaning that they have now come up with an astonishing 10 goals in their last three visits to the Theatre of Dreams.
Furthermore, Man United have also repeated a 2023 feat from noisy neighbours Manchester City, becoming the first team in two years to take the lead three times in a Premier League game but fail to win.
The Citizens went ahead on three occasions against Chelsea in November 2023, only to succumb to a last-gasp Cole Palmer penalty in a 4-4 draw, and Monday's stalemate saw Man Utd miss the chance to draw level on points with the fourth-placed Blues.
However, thanks to a superior goal difference to Sunderland and Liverpool, Amorim's men have risen to sixth in the Premier League table, while Bournemouth also jump up two places to 13th.
Man Utd 4-4 Bournemouth: Ruben Amorim singles out one key Red Devils player
Despite conceding four goals on the night, Man Utd number one Senne Lammens was name-checked by Amorim at full time, as the Belgian made a couple of crucial late stops to preserve a point for the home side.
"It's really disappointing," Amorim told BBC Sport. "We are really disappointed. Crazy game. It might look like we lost the two points in the second half but I think we lost them in the first half.
"We dominated and created so many chances. We had to go to half-time with a different result. In the end we deserved more. It was a fun game for everyone at home.
"People especially at Old Trafford want to win but they want to be inspired to see a team play good football. We did that well in certain moments. It was a good performance but we need to be more clinical because created so many chances.
"Lammens did really well. There were opportunities for both sides. We created more. We need to find ways of closing the games because this happened many times."
Man United now have five full days to recover before a daunting trip to title outsiders Aston Villa this Sunday, when they will be without the Africa Cup of Nations-bound Bryan Mbeumo and Diallo.
