Wednesday's Manchester United transfer talk news roundup: Facundo Medina, Juan Mata, David Alaba

Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Manchester United on Wednesday, January 20.

The January transfer window is now open, with Manchester United continuing to be linked with a host of big names.

The Red Devils have already agreed a deal to sign Amad Traore, and could look to bolster their ranks further to build on an encouraging first half of the season.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Old Trafford.

Wednesday morning's Manchester United transfer talk news roundup:

Report: Manchester United want Argentina international Facundo Medina

Manchester United are reportedly showing a serious interest in Lens left-back Facundo Medina.

The 21-year-old, who is also comfortable playing at centre-back, only joined the French side from Talleres in a £3m deal last summer.

Having impressed in his first Ligue 1 campaign for mid-table Lens, La Voix du Nord claims that United are keeping a close eye on the youngster.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be after defensive reinforcements and the club may back the Norwegian with a £10m offer for Medina.

Any deal could be dependent on the one-cap Argentina international returning to Lens on loan for the season, it is claimed, similar to the arrangement agreed between Arsenal and Nice for William Saliba.

Manchester United yet to decide on Juan Mata future

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that the club are yet to make a decision on Juan Mata's Old Trafford future.

The playmaker has turned out 10 times for the Red Devils in all competitions this season, but he boasts just two assists from four Premier League starts on the right-hand side.

Mata's current deal is due to expire in June but United can trigger a one-year extension, although Solskjaer has confirmed that no decision has been reached yet.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Man United's Premier League clash with Fulham, Solskjaer said: "The decision is very difficult every time with Juan. You know he has the quality. If he plays, he scores goals, he has contributed this season.

"Then again, you have other players who have taken his role as well. Mason [Greenwood] has done well in that position and Paul [Pogba] now.

"Juan really contributes in and around the group. He is one of those I have discussions with all the time and it is difficult to leave him out but unfortunately that's where it is at the moment. No decision has been made yet."

Mata has chalked up 50 goals and 47 assists in 265 appearances for the Red Devils, where he has won one Europa League, one FA Cup and one EFL Cup since arriving from Chelsea in 2014.
