Good evening! It's an hour until kickoff at Villa Park where Manchester United and Aston Villa will both be looking to pick up their second win of the season. The team news has just been announced, so let's start with a look at the lineups.
So, Louis van Gaal has made just one change to his starting lineup, bringing in Adnan Januzaj for Ashley Young. With David de Gea still being left out amid transfer interest from Real Madrid, Sergio Romero continues in goal for the visitors.
Meanwhile, Tim Sherwood has stuck with the same XI that started against Bournemouth on Saturday, leaving goal-scorer Rudy Gestede on the bench. The only change to the squad sees Libor Kozak on the bench in place of Joe Cole.
Ahead of this match, Louis van Gaal admitted that Manchester United need to pick up more points away from home this season if they are to challenge for the Premier League title. The manager said at his pre-match press conference: "The key for success this season is improving away matches. We were one of the best last season at home, third in the league. I wanted to create a fortress at Old Trafford. We did that but away we have to improve and we can improve because last year we were not good."
Despite this being Aston Villa's first home match of the new league season, Tim Sherwood believes that United are under more pressure to get a result: "It's still Man Utd and it's still a huge football club. Whenever you're playing Man Utd, the expectancy is always to give their opposition a hard time. It will be no different [tonight]. The onus is on Manchester United."
This has been a pretty one-sided fixture in recent years. Man Utd have won nine of their last 13 meetings with Villa, while the remaining four have resulted in draws. The home side's only win against Untied since 1999 came almost six years ago, when they clinched a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford.
Aston Villa have been one of the busier clubs in the transfer window this summer, bringing in 10 new signings. Jordan Ayew, Jordan Amavi, Jordan Veretout, Idrissa Gueye and Scott Sinclair are all new to Villa this season, and all start tonight.
Louis van Gaal hasn't been quite as busy in the transfer market, but four of his five signings start tonight, while the fifth - Bastian Schweinsteiger - is on the bench. The German came on for the final 30 minutes against Spurs, but still isn't fit enough to start.
Obviously, it's rather unusual for the Premier League to have a match on Friday. Well, this game had to moved because an English Defence League march is taking place in the Midlands tomorrow, resulting in the West Midlands Police asking for the game to be moved. United are in Champions League action on Tuesday, so it couldn't be pushed back to Sunday, forcing the sides to meet a day early. It's the first time the Premier League has had a Friday fixture, excluding during the holiday season, since 2004, when Arsenal thrashed Leeds United 5-0.
You'll probably notice in that picture, courtesy of Manchester United's Twitter account, that it's still a little empty of Villa Park, despite kickoff being less than 30 minutes away. That's because there's been a road closure on the M6 throughout the day, disrupting supporters of both fans making their way to the game. There have been some calling for kickoff to be pushed back to give those with tickets more time to get to the ground, but it looks like they're sticking to a 7.45pm start. It is a sell-out tonight, so the ground should be full.
If you missed last week's action, you can catch up on Man Utd's win over Spurs with our match report, including details of the first time that the opening goal of the season has been an own goal. Why not catch up on Aston Villa's win over Bournemouth too.
Villa's latest new signing is Barcelona youngster Adama Traore. He signed too late to feature tonight, but is at the ground to watch from the stands this evening. He's in the tunnel at the moment posing for selfies.
REFEREE WATCH!Mike Dean is the man in the middle tonight. It's a quick turn-around for him, as he was also in charge of the Monday evening fixture between West Brom and Man City, dishing out five yellow cards in that match.
PREDICTION! The players will be making their way out of the tunnel in the next few minutes, so there's just time for a quick prediction. Man Utd have generally had the beating of Villa in recent years, but Tim Sherwood's side looked solid last week, so won't make it easy. Man Utd are a much tougher proposition that Bournemouth though, so I'm going for a 1-0 win.
Adnan Januzaj makes his first start since February in the Premier League, and it looks like Van Gaal is hoping for big things from the young Belgian:

Right then, the players stroll out ready for kickoff, with the visitors in their newly-launched all white away kit. The good news is that the stadium has filled up nicely in the last 20 minutes as it looks like most of those with tickets have avoided the traffic problems.
It's absolutely rocking in Villa Park as the home crowd gets behind their players. The visitors have the majority of the ball in the opening 90 seconds as they pass it around the back. Micah Richards comes out to try to win it back for the hosts, but he instantly gives away a free kick.
Ashley Westwood tries to flick the ball forward to Jordan Ayew, but the Ghanaian can't quite keep hold of it on the turn. Villa try to play it back in, but Sergio Romero is soon off his line to claim it, booting it clear of the box.
Westwood is involved again, playing it out wide to Amavi, but Darmian does enough to stop the pacy defender making a run down the left flank. Carrick and Smalling soon bring it out from the back for the visitors, but Mata's path is blocked as he makes a run. It's been a good lively start from both sides so far, but neither side have had a shot yet.
Sinclair plays a wonderful through-ball for Jordan Veretout, but he's being closely marked by Luke Shaw. The midfielder tries to pull it back to allow him to square it for Ayew, but the England international stood his ground and made the clearance.
Januzaj wants a free kick as he takes a tumble around 30 yards out, but nothing is given by the referee. Villa soon have the ball back, with Richards and Clark playing the ball out from the back before Shaw does concede a set piece for a foul on Gueye.
From nowhere, Mata carves out a diagonal pass towards Memphis Depay, but he just loses his footing while chasing it down, allowing the ball to get away from him.
CHANCE! Man Utd have the first shot of the night as Richards gives away a free kick just outside the box, leaving Depay to curl in a right-footed delivery to Morgan Schneiderlin, but the Frenchman couldn't keep his header down, nodding it into the crowd of Villa fans behind the home goal.
Januzaj has been fairly quiet so far, but he gets involved when he wins the ball in the middle before attempting to set up Wayne Rooney, who also hasn't seen much of the ball so far. However, Richards is on hand to make the clearance. It's quickly played back in towards Depay, but Brad Guzan sprints out to make the clearance.
Man Utd have just started to show a little more intent in the last five minutes or so, but Villa respond by getting the ball back down the other end, forcing Smalling to put it out for a throw in near the corner flag. It falls to Idrissa Gueye on the edge of the box, and he tries to slot it in for the onrushing Ayew, but Smalling is there again and makes the block.
CHANCE! The visitors are on the attack again, with Rooney flicking it out wide for Depay. He scuffs his shot, but it gets a touch off Richards to go behind for a corner. The ball back in goes straight out the other side for a Villa goal kick though. That's wasteful from the visitors.
Memphis Depay has been a touch slow to react on a few occasions so far tonight, and he loses out again as Shaw passes out wide to the midfielder, who waits for the ball, only for Bacuna to get to it first and clear the danger.
The first on target shot in this match has give the visitors the lead, but it was worth the wait! Juan Mata and Memphis Depay work the ball on the edge of the box before playing it in for Januzaj. The youngster took a touch to round Richards before slicing it in from a tight angle, beating Guzan at the far post. It did take the slightest of deflection off a stretching Clark, but that's definitely Januzaj's goal.
Villa try to create something as they look to get back on level terms, with Amavi attempting to make a move down the wing, but he finds his path blocked by Darmian, not for the first time in this match.
Bacuna and Richards pass the ball around the back as they look to slow the pace down before looking for another charge forward. Westwood plays a long, low pass in towards Agbonlahor, who gets himself in space after shaking off Smalling, but he can't get his boot to the ball.
Villa are looking a lot more threatening as the push for the equaliser, with Westwood and Gueye working the ball through to Sinclair on the left-hand side of the box. He tries to cross in for Agbonlahor, forcing Smalling to nod it behind for a corner. Much better from the hosts.
PENALTY APPEAL!Micah Richards thinks that his side should have had a spot kick as the captain tangled with Darmian while trying to get a header away from the corner. The United man did appear to have a handful of the Villa skipper's shirt, but it wasn't spotted by referee Mike Dean.
Sinclair has been one of Villa's liveliest players in the first half, and he's on the ball again, playing it out wide to Westwood. The visitors win it back though, resulting in Rooney trying to pick out Depay, but the winger wasn't quite ready for it.
Sinclair plays the ball over the top towards Jordan Ayew, but the striker is well offside, although it looked like Romero was ready for it had the new signing had a chance to get the shot away. The keeper hasn't actually had to make a save yet, with Januzaj's strike remaining the only effort on target by either side so far.
Villa a still trying to get forward every time they get the ball, with Agbonlahor setting up Veretout. The midfielder tries to loop it in from out wide, but it's an easy take for Romero.
So at the interval, it's a strike from Adnan Januzaj that separates the two sides. Chances have been scarce so far, but both sides have played at a decent tempo and shown plenty of intent, with the final touch lacking at times.
In the first half, the visitors had slightly more possession than their opponents with 55%. They created more chances too, with five to Villa's one. Sergio Romero really hasn't been tested since taking David de Gea's place, with Tottenham only forcing a couple of stops from the Argentine last week. They'll need to put him under pressure in the second half.
Villa captain Micah Richards was in the ear of referee Mike Dean as the players made their way off at half time. The defender wanted a penalty after tangling with Matteo Darmian in the box. The United man clearly had a handful of the Villa captain's shirt, preventing him from timing his leap for a corner. Spot kicks have certainly been given for less.
As you can see from this statistic, Man Utd don't give up half-time leads often. Could Tim Sherwood be thinking about making a change early in the second half? It's probably too soon for any alterations yet, but Rudy Gestede, who scored on Saturday, would certainly give the hosts more presence in the box:
80 - Man Utd have lost just one of the last 80 PL games that they've been winning at HT (before tonight) - v Leicester in Sept 2014. Hold.

Veretout heads the ball on for Agbonlahor as Villa also try to get involved, but the striker was in space thanks to a shove on Blind, which gives the visitors a free kick. Villa soon have it back though, resulting in Ayew getting a shot away from the edge of the box, but he slices it well high.
Sherwood has obviously had a few words with his side about urgency during the break as they are desperate to get the ball in the United box, with Ayew weaving around to try to get past Smalling on the right flank, before Bacuna picks it up, but the visitors have enough men back to keep him out.
Jordan Amavi has looked keen to get forward, but found himself running straight into Darmian a couple of times this evening. The manages to make his way to the edge of the box this time though, provided a decent low cross for Agbonlahor, but the striker lacked conviction with his shot, failing to trouble Romero.
Amavi and Darmian's battle continues, with the United man knocking the Villa defender off his feet to give the home side a free kick. Amavi curls it in himself, but his teammate can't connect with it, leaving Romero with a comfortable take.
CHANCE! Agbonlahor forces a corner, and gets a free header from the resulting set piece as he leaps up high on the right, attempting to power the ball into the top corner, but Romero gets across to keep it out. That's really the first ball that the keeper has had to dealt with under pressure.
United are clinging onto their one-goal lead by their fingertips at the moment as Westwood tries to get on the end of a ball in from Agbonlahor, before the loose ball drops kindly for Gueye, but Shaw is there to make the block. The Villa pressure has certainly awoken the home crowd too, as they're in fine voice after a quiet spell.
A lovely one-two between Amavi and Ayew resulting in the defender getting the ball in for Gueye. He tries to flick it back for Ayew, but Shaw is in the way. Gestede was also lurking as he tries to get involved just moments after coming off the bench.
A cheeky backheel from Mata is collected by Herrera, but Amavi does enough to force it behind for a corner, which is dutifully collected by Guzan, who was given a free run at the delivery.
Schneiderlin has to work hard to keep the ball in, but he manages to work it to Darmian, whose cross is deflected towards Rooney, but Bacuna beats the United captain to the ball to put it behind for a corner.
Guzan punches the ball clear as far as Herrera, but Richards just about gets it away. After a dominant spell by Villa at the start of this second half, the visitors have just started to threaten again in the last few minutes, and look the more likely in front of goal at the moment.
United have a free kick around 25 yards out, with Mata and Depay clearly both keen to take it. The Dutchman wins the argument, before promptly blasting it high into the stand, much to the amusement of the Villa fans behind the goal.
CHANCE! Depay makes a superb run, splitting Bacuna and Richards to leave himself with only Guzan to beat as Mata picked him out with a stunning through-ball, but his finishing touch just hasn't been there tonight, resulting in him putting it wide.
United are still looking the more likely, with Rooney passing to Shaw, but the defender looks to get it back to the striker, failing to spot the run of Depay. Depay does get a chance a couple of moments later, unleashing a low striker from the edge of the box, but it's a comfortable stop for Guzan.
Bacuna forces a corner as Villa put Man Utd under pressure at the back for the first time in a quite a while, but Rooney is back to make the clearance. That might actually be the United captain's greatest contribution so far this evening.
SUB! the visitors make their final change of the night, sending on former Villa player Ashley Young, who replaces Memphis Depay. It's been an energetic but wasteful evening for the new signing. On another night, he'd probably have had a couple of goals.
BOOKING! Amavi and Darmian have been clashing all night on the flank, and the United defender finally makes one rash challenge too many, picking up a yellow card.
Schweinsteiger squares the ball to Young, who is immediately subjected to some pantomime boos as he attempts to create something against his old club, but it comes to nothing.
Clark sends a long ball forward as Villa seek what would be a late equaliser. Gueye tries to head it down, but United have the numbers back to deal with it.
Villa soon get the ball back as a sloppy pass from Rooney is picked up by the hosts, but Daley Blind is on hand to direct the back four on make sure Villa can't get the shot away.
BOOKING! In a desperate attempt to get the ball back, Gueye fouls Schweinsteiger, earning himself a booking. There are three minutes of stoppage time to be played.
It's United who have the ball as the final couple of minutes tick town, with Rooney and Herrera passing it around just inside the Villa half. The hosts do enough to push their opponents back, but Mata keeps possession for the visitors.
So, it's Adnan Januzaj's first-half goal that proves the difference at Villa Park as United pick up their second win from two matches. As with their win over Spurs, it wasn't the most convincing performance from Louis van Gaal's men, but three points at this stage of the season is three points, and for the time being at least it puts them at the top of the table.
That's all from this match, but stick around for reaction to this result, as well as match analysis and player ratings, and join us again tomorrow for more action from the Premier League. Until then, thanks for joining me this evening. Goodbye.
