David Moyes urges Manchester United players to move on

David Moyes asks his Manchester United players to bounce back from their defeat against Manchester City when they take on Liverpool in the League Cup.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has called upon his players to not dwell on their 4-1 defeat during Sunday's derby against Manchester City.

Moyes's side found themselves 4-0 with 50 minutes played, with only a late free kick from Wayne Rooney reducing the arrears.

However, ahead of tomorrow's League Cup clash with rivals Liverpool, Moyes has urged the United squad to lift their spirits.

"Well, it's gone now isn't it? I can't do anything about it so we move on and get ready for the next game," the Scot told reporters.

"It did [shock me]. But when you're a football manager for the length of time I have been, you are always going to have shocks. I've had lots and I have got no doubt there will be more in the future. That's the way football is.

"To get back on and play again is the best way to do it. You can't dwell too much on it. We're looking forward to getting the next game started and hopefully trying to win. I'm still getting to know all the players here and I have got a chance to get to know a few more of them this week and we'll see what they can do."

United lost 1-0 to Liverpool in the Premier League fixture between the two teams earlier this month.
