Jesse Lingard targets League Cup appearance

Jesse Lingard has set himself the target of appearing for Manchester United in the League Cup this season.

The 19-year-old has struggled to break into the United starting lineup since he signed professional forms in 2009.

However, having impressed during pre-season, the attacker is now hoping to feature for the first team in domestic cup competitions.

"Hopefully I can stay around the first team, train with them a lot and get a shot at the Capital One Cup," he told the club's official website.

Lingard scored nine goals for United's reserves during the last campaign.
