Anders Lindegaard impressed with young Manchester United defenders

Anders Lindegaard hails the young Manchester United defenders, singling centre-back Scott Wootton for special mention.

Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has praised his side's young defenders.

Centre-backs Scott Wootton and Michael Keane both impressed during the Red Devils' 2-1 home victory over Newcastle United in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday.

"We have some very good young defenders – I'm a big fan of Scotty (Scott Wootton)," Lindegaard told United's official website.

"I've played a lot of games with him and he has a real calmness to his game and is a no-nonsense player.

"The most important thing for the young lads to do when they come into the side is to enjoy it."

Lindegaard added that the young United players need to enjoy themselves in order to progress.

"The pressure and attention on everything you do is enormous, but you have to put that aside and focus on what matters and that is right here, right now," he said.

"Playing in your first few games for United are moments you'll look back on for the rest of your life, it's a special kind of feeling and you have to enjoy every second."

United host Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday.
