Report: Bastian Schweinsteiger early doubt for opening Premier League weekend

Manchester United may be without new signing Bastian Schweinsteiger on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

New Manchester United signing Bastian Schweinsteiger has a fight on his hands to prove his fitness ahead of the opening weekend of the Premier League season, according to reports.

The German midfielder missed United's 3-1 pre-season win over Barcelona on Saturday with a minor injury, and the Red Devils have just one more game to get ready before Tottenham Hotspur visit Old Trafford.

The Mirror claims that Schweinsteiger must play at least the last 30 minutes against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday if he wants to be considered for selection.

The paper reports that the 30-year-old is back in training, but it is not yet clear how fit he will be for Wednesday's match in Chicago.

Schweinsteiger joined the club for £15m from Bayern Munich two weeks ago.
