Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is hopeful of having Juan Mata and Ander Herrera back in action for their pre-season friendly against Valerenga later this week.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that Juan Mata and Ander Herrera should be ready to return to action in time for Sunday's pre-season friendly against Valerenga in Norway.

Mata sustained an ankle injury in the second half of his side's 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake last Tuesday, while Herrera lasted just four minutes before being withdrawn from Sunday's match against Real Madrid.

Both players have trained away from the squad since picking up the injuries and will be unavailable for the upcoming International Champions Cup clash with Barcelona, but Mourinho is hopeful of having them back by the end of the week.

"They cannot play tomorrow [against Barcelona] but I think they will recover in time to be integrated with the team when we go back to work next Saturday. They will probably play on Sunday [against Valerenga]," he told the club's official website.

United have won all four of their pre-season matches so far as they continue their build-up to the 2017-18 campaign.
