Man United vs. Aston Villa: Red Devils set to be without key man for final Premier League fixture

Man United set to be missing key man for Villa showdown at Old Trafford

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has revealed that Leny Yoro is unlikely to be involved in Sunday's Premier League contest with Aston Villa at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils will bring a hugely disappointing 2024-25 campaign to a close on Sunday afternoon, and they will be bidding to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.

Lisandro Martinez will again miss out for Man United, with the Argentina international facing a battle to be available before the end of the year due to a serious knee injury.

Matthijs de Ligt, meanwhile, missed out on the Europa League final with a knee issue of his own, and it is unlikely that the Netherlands international will recover in time for the game with Unai Emery's side.

Yoro could also be absent, with Amorim revealing that he is being "careful" when it comes to the youngster, who suffered a foot injury during the Premier League clash with West Ham United on May 11.

Yoro expected to miss Man United's clash with Villa

"No, there are some situations, like Leny. We have to be careful. We had that in the last [home] game before the final, I think it was West Ham, on his foot," Amorim told MUTV when asked about his injury situation.

"We're going to take care of some situations so as not to compromise next season. The rest, we want to win the game so we are going to put a squad together."

Diogo Dalot and Joshua Zirkzee were both involved off the bench against Tottenham after recovering from injuries, and it is expected that the duo will again feature against Villa on Sunday afternoon.

Aside from Yoro, Amorim has not named the players at risk of missing out against Villa, as Man United bid to end what has been a hugely disappointing campaign on a positive note.

Will Garnacho be involved against Villa?

There is fresh speculation surrounding Alejandro Garnacho's future following the Europa League final, with the Argentina international expressing his unhappiness at being left on the bench until the latter stages of the match.

Garnacho's agent and brother Roberto Garnacho also hit out at Amorim, while the Man United head coach appeared to aim a dig at the 20-year-old when asked about why he had decided against starting him.

Amorim must now decide whether to involve Garnacho against Villa or leave him out of the squad, but according to The Athletic, the manager has already made it clear that the youngster is not in his plans for next season.

If Garnacho does not figure against Emery's side, that would strongly indicate that all parties are working towards an exit this summer, with discussions expected to be held between Man United and Garnacho's representatives next week.
