Man United could receive 'double boost' for vital Old Trafford battle with Ipswich

Manchester United could reportedly receive a double injury boost for Sunday's Premier League clash with newly-promoted Ipswich Town at Old Trafford.

The 20-time English champions opened their 2026-27 Premier League campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Hull City on Saturday afternoon.

Michael Carrick's side will have the chance to bounce back from the two-goal reverse when they take on Ipswich in their first home match of the new season.

Amad Diallo and Mason Mount were both missing against Hull, with the former suffering an issue in training, while the latter has been absent since picking up a foot injury against Paris Saint-Germain during Man United's preparations for the new campaign.

"He just picked up a niggle right at the end of the week, in training. We’ll assess that and see where he’s at," Carrick told MUTV ahead of the clash with Hull.

"Hopefully, it won’t be too long but we’ll have to wait and see. He was in a good place, Amad. He was looking sharp and obviously looking forward to the season, so it’s disappointing but, unfortunately, that’s part of it. We’ve got the squad that we can cope with it, so we’ve got to keep moving and, hopefully, we’ll get Amad back soon."

There had been suggestions that the Ivory Coast international could be out for as long as six weeks.

However, according to the Daily Mail, there is a chance that the attacker will be back in the squad for the contest with Ipswich.

The report claims that Mount could also recover from a foot injury in time to be included against Ipswich.

Mount had been in impressive form in a midfield role during pre-season before picking up an untimely problem.

Will Carrick make changes against Ipswich?

Carrick could make a number of changes to his side for Sunday's game against Ipswich, with Amad certainly a candidate to start if he can prove his fitness.

Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez are also pushing to come into the back four, while Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford and Benjamin Sesko are options further forward.
