Manchester United are reportedly hopeful that Kobbie Mainoo will be able to make his return to action against Nottingham Forest after the March international break.
Mainoo suffered a calf injury in training last week, and he was one of 12 first-team players absent for the trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, which ended in a 1-0 loss for the 20-time English champions.
There had initially been concerns that the England international could be out for the season, but according to The Telegraph, there is a belief that the midfielder will be available for the trip to Forest in the Premier League on April 1.
Mainoo is set to miss the team's next four Premier League matches against Everton, Ipswich Town, Arsenal and Leicester City, in addition to an FA Cup fifth-round contest against Fulham.
The 19-year-old is also expected to be absent for both legs of Man United's last-16 Europa League contest next month, before potentially being back on the field at the start of April.
Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim told Sky Sports News ahead of the Tottenham clash that Mainoo had "felt something during training" and claimed that he would spend "weeks" on the sidelines rather than months.
Mainoo 'set to return at the start of April'
Mainoo has featured on 25 occasions for Man United this season, scoring once and providing one assist, but he has found it difficult to make his mark in the Premier League this term, failing to register a goal contribution in 18 matches.
There was speculation surrounding the midfielder's future in January, with Chelsea believed to be considering making a move for the Englishman due to Man United's financial issues.
The Red Devils are not actively looking to sell the Englishman, but serious offers would be listened to, as any sale would count as pure profit under the Premier League's rules surrounding Profit and Sustainability.
How many Man United players are currently injured?
Man United were missing 12 first-team players against Tottenham, and there will again be a number of absentees against Everton on Saturday, with Lisandro Martinez, Amad Diallo, Luke Shaw, Mainoo, Mason Mount and Jonny Evans all out.
However, Manuel Ugarte, Christian Eriksen, Leny Yoro, Altay Bayindir, Toby Collyer and Tom Heaton could all potentially return to the squad for the contest at Goodison Park.
