Cristiano Ronaldo is set to return to the Manchester United squad for Saturday's Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Cristiano Ronaldo is in line to return to the Manchester United squad for Saturday's Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

The Portugal international missed out against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend due to a hip flexor problem and was unable to train with his teammates earlier this week.

However, speaking during Friday's pre-match press conference, Red Devils interim head coach Ralf Rangnick said that the 37-year-old was back in training on Thursday and should return against Spurs this weekend.

"It doesn't make sense to look back at what was happening the last six days. Important is that he and Edi [Edinson Cavani] are back in training. I would have thought he is available for tomorrow. We will see with which formation/line-up," Rangnick told reporters.

Ronaldo has scored 15 times in 30 appearances for the 20-time English champions this season following his return to the club from Juventus last summer.

The Portuguese has only netted once in the Premier League since the end of December, though, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future in recent weeks.

Ronaldo missed a host of chances in his last appearance against Watford at the end of February, and he will be bidding to return to the starting XI against Antonio Conte's side in the key affair.
