How Manchester United could line up against Derby County

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up for Thursday's FA Cup fifth-round clash against Derby County at Pride Park.

Manchester United travel to Pride Park to take on Derby County in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Thursday evening.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have put together an eight-match unbeaten run following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Everton at Goodison Park.

The Red Devils will be looking to keep their hopes of a record-equalling 13th FA Cup triumph alive against the Rams, who haven't beaten United in the last eight FA Cup meetings between the two sides.

Here, Sports Mole predicts how Solskjaer's side could line up on Thursday.

With the weekend's derby against Manchester City in mind, Solskjaer could make several changes to the side that drew with Everton on Sunday.

Should the Norwegian revert back to a 4-2-3-1 formation, Diogo Dalot should replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back, with Brandon Williams occupying the left-hand side of defence in place of Luke Shaw. Eric Bailly is also likely to start alongside captain Harry Maguire in the heart of defence.

Fred and Scott McTominay could be in line to start as a defensive midfield duo, with Jesse Lingard vying for a place in the attacking midfield role giving Bruno Fernandes a rest.

James is in line to start out wide after missing out altogether against Everton through a knock, and Juan Mata is the most likely candidate to feature on the opposite flank.

On-loan striker Odion Ighalo will also be hoping for only his second start in United colours.
