Arsene Wenger: 'FA Cup clash with Manchester United has no league impact'

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger insists that his side's FA Cup clash with Manchester United will have no impact on the teams' battle to claim a top-four spot in the league.

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has insisted that his side's FA Cup clash with Manchester United will have no impact on either side's bid to finish in the Premier League's top four.

The Gunners take on the Red Devils in the quarter-final of the English showpiece on Monday night, with Wenger believing that the outcome of the game will have no influence as the two sides also battle it out for a Champions League qualification spot.

"It is a different competition. For us we won the FA Cup last year, we are the holders and we want of course to keep it," said Wenger, according to the Daily Star.

"This competition is important to us and we want to go there and produce the result. I don't think it is linked at all to the Premier League.

"It is linked to momentum and desire to win. The cup is give it all on the day and that is what it is about on Monday night."

Arsenal currently hold third place in the Premier League table, with 54 points from 28 games so far this season.
