How Manchester United could line up against Sevilla

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up for their Europa League semi-final clash with Sevilla on Sunday evening.

Manchester United are two wins away from winning their first trophy since 2017, but the Red Devils must overcome the Europa League's most successful team before they can start dreaming about next Friday's final.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men will lock horns with five-time winners Sevilla on Sunday evening in the first semi-final, and the winners of this game will face either Inter Milan or Shakhtar Donetsk for a piece of European silverware a few days later.

United go into the game following a narrow quarter-final victory over Copenhagen, where a Bruno Fernandes penalty was ultimately enough to see off the Danish side following a dogged performance from goalkeeper Karl-Johan Johnsson.

United have already secured a spot in next season's Champions League owing to their third-placed Premier League finish, but if the 20-time English champions want to lay down a marker ahead of the new campaign, a trophy is essential.

Having opted to shuffle the pack slightly against LASK and Copenhagen, Solskjaer is expected to name the majority of the side that hit the ground running upon the restart.

That could mean a potential two changes from the quarter-final victory, with Fred and Eric Bailly in line to be replaced by Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof respectively.

Both players have formed effective partnerships with their respective comrades since football returned, with Matic and Paul Pogba proving themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the middle of the park, while Lindelof and Harry Maguire have enjoyed a spate of impressive performances in the heart of Solskjaer's defence.

Who the two centre-backs will be looking to protect is up for debate, though, as Sergio Romero could be in doubt of losing his place in goal to David de Gea due to the significance of this semi-final.

De Gea has certainly not covered himself in glory throughout the season, but Solskjaer has jumped to his keeper's defence on numerous occasions this term and the Spaniard will be battling it out with Romero for a start here, although we are expecting the Argentine to get the nod.

Up top, the formidable quartet of Fernandes, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have amassed 64 goals and 23 assists between them in all competitions this term, and barring any late issues, the four players are nailed on to start here.
