How Manchester United could line up against Granada

Manchester United will have to work around a trio of suspended players for the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash with Granada on Thursday.

Defenders Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw will both be forced to sit out the game for an accumulation of bookings, and Scott McTominay was also cautioned for the third time in the tournament in last week's 2-0 win.

Thankfully for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Alex Telles has recovered from a bout of sickness to deputise at left-back, and Axel Tuanzebe should fill the void left by Maguire in defence while Eric Bailly (coronavirus) and Phil Jones (knee) remain out.

The veteran Nemanja Matic should return to the engine room in McTominay's absence, and his partner Fred ended a Premier League scoring drought stretching all the way back to September 2018 against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.

Matic manning the engine room would most likely lead to Paul Pogba featuring on the left-hand side of the attacking quartet, especially with Daniel James a minor doubt and Marcus Rashford in need of a break due to an ongoing foot problem.

The resurgent Mason Greenwood came off the bench to net in the Red Devils' 3-1 triumph over Spurs at the weekend, and he should earn a place in the first XI this week, but the likes of Amad Diallo and Donny van de Beek may have to wait their turn.

With Anthony Martial expected to be out for the rest of the season, Edinson Cavani is likely to continue up top after Solskjaer affirmed that the club are fighting hard to keep him on the books for the new season.

Dean Henderson appears to have established himself as Solskjaer's number one in the Premier League, so David de Gea should be recalled for Thursday's game.

Manchester United possible starting lineup: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Tuanzebe, Telles; Fred, Matic; Greenwood, Fernandes, Pogba; Cavani
