Manchester United's Daniel James: 'I offer a lot more than goals'

Daniel James: 'I offer a lot more than goals'

Manchester United winger Daniel James has claimed there is a lot more to his game than just goals.

The 22-year-old scored United's second in their 5-0 drubbing of Austrian side LASK Linz in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 clash, ending a run of 25 games without a goal in all competitions for the Welshman.

James made an impressive start to the Premier League season, but has seen his goal contributions dry up recently with a total of three goals and six assists in 27 appearances.

However, speaking to MUTV, James believes that he still has a positive effect on the game regardless of whether or not he gets on the scoresheet: "It always does (affect you when you don't score), but you have got to be head on. The games come thick and fast. Just every game you've got to improve and look back and what you can do more.

"I think as a player I give a lot more than goals, try to create, work hard for the team. Today it was about getting off the mark, and can I capitalise and get more now.

"Maybe I haven't scored as much as I wanted to recently. Got off to a good start, but maybe not been at standards I wanted to be. Thanks to all the coaches and the manager trusting in me and for working with me everyday."

United currently sit fifth in the Premier League table before their crunch match with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.
