Wayne Rooney ruled out of PSV Eindhoven clash

Wayne Rooney is ruled out of Manchester United's Champions League match with PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday due to a hamstring strain.

Wayne Rooney has been ruled out of Manchester United's Champions League match with PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday.

The striker missed Saturday's 3-1 victory over Liverpool after picking up a minor hamstring injury in training.

United boss Louis van Gaal suggested over the weekend that the England man was a doubt for the group stage clash in the Netherlands.

Young striker James Wilson has been included in the squad, while Anthony Martial could feature after coming off the bench to score a debut goal against Liverpool.

The meeting with PSV will be United's first group stage match since the 2013-14 season.
