Galatasaray, Manchester United clash 'in danger of being called off'

Manchester United's Champions League clash with Galatasaray, which is scheduled to start in less than three hours, could allegedly be called off due to bad weather.

The two teams are due to lock horns on Wednesday in a key battle in Group A, with Man United currently bottom of the section on three points, while Galatasaray are third on four points.

Man United made the trip to Turkey on Tuesday, with a 22-man squad named for the European contest.

However, due to heavy rainfall in Istanbul, there is seemingly a chance that the match could be postponed shortly before kickoff.

According to ESPN journalist Rob Dawson, UEFA are insisting that the game is going ahead, but there is thought to be more rain predicted in the coming hours.

"UEFA saying, as things stand, the game is going ahead. But there are big patches of standing water in front of the benches and the officials who have been out rolling a ball on the surface didn't seem too impressed," read a post on X from Dawson, who is in Istanbul for the contest.

Officials are expected to make a final check over the next hour before it is determined whether the game can go ahead as planned.

Man United will enter the match off the back of a 3-0 win over Everton in the Premier League on Sunday, while Galatasaray recorded a 4-0 victory over Alanyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday.
