The two Manchester clubs have secured their progression.

Liverpool and Tottenham will head into the final round of Champions League group games looking to secure a spot in the last 16, while Manchester City and Manchester United have already qualified.

Here, Press Association Sport looks at the exact scenario for each of the four English clubs following this week's matches.

Wednesday's 2-1 loss at Paris St Germain left the Reds third in Group C, two points behind the French outfit and three behind Napoli. Liverpool host Napoli on December 11 and must win to have any chance of going through – victory by more than one goal will ensure qualification. If PSG beat Red Star Belgrade away on the same night, Jurgen Klopp's men will need a 1-0 triumph or victory by two goals or more, with other wins not sufficing. If the game in Belgrade is a draw, Liverpool will advance with any win – it would leave them, PSG and Napoli all on nine points and the Merseysiders would finish first on the three-way head-to-head.

Tottenham

Christian Eriksen netted an 80th-minute winner against Inter Milan (Nick Potts/PA).

Spurs kept their qualification bid alive with Wednesday's 1-0 win over Inter Milan at Wembley – they are now second in Group B, level on points with the third-placed Italians, while Barcelona are already through as group winners. Tottenham next face Barca away knowing victory will send them through. Any result from that game that sees them match, points-wise, how Inter fare at home against PSV Eindhoven will be good enough.

Manchester City

Group F leaders City secured progression to the last 16 as they drew 2-2 at Lyon on Tuesday night. They are three points clear of the second-placed French side and will seal top spot if they draw their last pool match, at home against Hoffenheim on December 12, or if Lyon do not win theirs, at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Manchester United

Marouane Fellaini's stoppage-time goal secured victory for United over Young Boys (Martin Rickett/PA).

United, second in Group H, qualified on Tuesday following a 1-0 home win over Young Boys. Currently two points behind Juventus, the Red Devils will leapfrog them into first if they win at Valencia and the Serie A club do not beat Young Boys away.
