Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Barcelona

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their Champions League quarter-final second leg against Barcelona.

Manchester United face a quick turnaround in matches as they take on Barcelona just three days on from grinding out a 2-1 win against West Ham United.

Paul Pogba netted twice from the penalty spot to keep the Red Devils on course for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Next up for United is a trip to Camp Nou for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie, which they trail 1-0 from the first leg.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team ahead of their showdown in Catalonia.

Nemanja Matic

Status: Slight doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: April 16 (vs. Barcelona)

Matic was an unused substitute against Wolverhampton Wanderers on April 2, but he has not been in the squad for United's last two matches because of illness. The midfielder has returned to training, though, and has a chance of being selected against Barcelona if he can prove his fitness.

Ander Herrera

Status: Slight doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: April 16 (vs. Barcelona)

Herrera has not featured for United since the end of March because of a niggling injury problem, and he remains doubtful for this match at Camp Nou. Solskjaer bizarrely claimed in the build-up to the West Ham game that his injury issues may be directly linked to doubts over his future.

Eric Bailly

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Concussion
Possible return date: April 16 (vs. Barcelona)

Bailly suffered concussion while on international duty with the Ivory Coast last month and has not featured since returning to Manchester.

Antonio Valencia

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle injury
Possible return date: Unknown

Valencia appears certain to be in the final weeks of his United career. An injury-plagued final campaign at Old Trafford is unlikely to end on a high, as he is still nursing a muscular problem and is no closer to a return.

Alexis Sanchez

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: April 16 (vs. Barcelona)

Having not featured since suffering a knee injury against Southampton in early March, Solskjaer has confirmed that the Chilean is in line to return before the end of the season. Sanchez is back in training and is in contention to be part of the squad against his former side.

Matteo Darmian

Status: Doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: April 16 (vs. Barcelona)

Darmian has not played since the middle of January, but Solskjaer may be forced to use the versatile full-back on Tuesday because of a lack of other options.

Shaw picked up a third knockout stage yellow against Barcelona and is therefore banned for the return match.
