Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Barcelona

Man United injury, suspension list vs. Barcelona

Manchester United head into the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona on Wednesday having suffered three defeats in their last four games.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has just been made the club's manager on a full-time basis, but two setbacks against Wolverhampton Wanderers and being beaten by Arsenal has left the Norwegian and his squad under pressure.

However, United go head to head with the Catalan giants having overturned a first-leg deficit to edge out Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for Solskjaer's team ahead of welcoming the La Liga leaders.

MANCHESTER UNITED'S INJURY LIST

Marcus Rashford

Status: Slight doubt Type of injury: Ankle Possible return date: April 10

Marcus Rashford had been expected to feature against Wolves, but the England international missed out due to a knock to his ankle. The forward is currently being assessed ahead of Wednesday's game.

Nemanja Matic

Status: Slight doubt Type of injury: Unknown Possible return date: April 10

Nemanja Matic was an unused substitute against Wolves, but the Serbian has since missed training sessions in the build-up to the showdown with Barcelona. However, Solskjaer says that he remains optimistic that Matic will be available for selection.

Ander Herrera

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Knock Possible return date: April 10

Ander Herrera also missed out against Wolves with a knock. Like Rashford, the Spaniard is being assessed by the club's medical team but Solskjaer has suggested that the midfielder will not be available.

Eric Bailly

Status: Out Type of injury: Concussion Possible return date: April 13

Eric Bailly suffered concussion while on international duty with the Ivory Coast, and the defender has not featured since returning to Manchester. Solskjaer has said that the 24-year-old will not feature against Barca.

Alexis Sanchez

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: April 13

Alexis Sanchez has not featured since sustaining a knee injury against Southampton last month, and the Chilean will not be risked ahead of a possible return against West Ham United at the weekend.

Matteo Darmian

Status: Doubt Type of injury: Knock Possible return date: Unknown

Matteo Darmian has not played since the middle of January, and there has been no suggestion that the Italian will feature in the squad next week.

Antonio Valencia

Status: Out Type of injury: Lack of match fitness Possible return date: Unknown

Antonio Valencia is expected to leave United in the summer and, barring an injury crisis, it appears that the decision has been made to keep the right-back out of the squad going forward.

MANCHESTER UNITED'S SUSPENSION LIST

United have no suspensions ahead of this game, and yellow cards have now been wiped ahead of the quarter-finals.
