Amadeo Salvo: 'Carles Gil is not for sale'

Valencia president Amadeo Salvo plays down suggestions that highly-rated striker Carles Gil could leave the club next summer.

Valencia president Amadeo Salvo has insisted that highly-rated striker Carles Gil is not for sale.

The 20-year-old has reportedly drawn the attention of Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City with his performances while on loan at Elche this season.

However, Amadeo has confirmed that the Spanish forward will return to Valencia at the end of the season and move into their first-team squad.

"Carles Gil is ours and next season he will play in the first team," Salvo told reporters.

"Interest in him from other clubs? It is a signal that the player is on the right track. It is a good sign that he is wanted, it would be bad if no-one was interested."

Gil's current deal expires in 2016.
