Report: Man City fail in Mbappe bid

Manchester City reportedly bid £35m for AS Monaco teenager Kylian Mbappe in this summer's transfer window.

The 17-year-old only signed his first professional contract in March, but it is understood that a number of European clubs, including Barcelona and Real Madrid, want to sign the France Under-19 international.

According to L'Equipe, Man City were prepared to pay £35m to bring the youngster to the Etihad before the start of the 2016-17 campaign, but Monaco quickly turned down the offer for their prized asset.

Ligue 1 outfit Monaco lost Anthony Martial to Manchester United on transfer deadline day last summer, with the France international making the move to England for an initial £36m, which could rise to £50m.

Mbappe, who became Monaco's youngest-ever scorer last season, is contracted to his current club until 2019.
