Report: City open Toure contract talks

Manchester City have begun talks with Yaya Toure's representatives over a new contract at the Etihad Stadium, according to reports.

The 31-year-old's current £200,000-a-week deal does not expire until 2017, but Citizens chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak is thought to be keen to secure the future of one of the club's biggest stars.

Any offer to Toure will include a coaching and ambassadorial role once he hangs up his boots, claims the Daily Star.

Toure, who joined City from Barcelona in 2010, has made over 150 appearances for the club and won two Premier League titles.
