Barcelona are lining up a £20m bid for Vincent Kompany as they set about the task of replacing captain Carles Puyol.

Barcelona have reportedly lined up Vincent Kompany as the man they want to replace Carles Puyol.

The Manchester City captain heads a list that includes Chelsea's David Luiz and Mats Hummels of Borussia Dortmund.

According to The People, Barca are readying a replacement for their own 35-year-old skipper and think they have a better chance of landing Kompany than Luiz.

The Belgian was City's Player of the Year as the won the title last season, but has been sidelined for part of this campaign with injury.

He signed a six-year deal last summer and the La Liga leaders would need to find at least £20m to sign the defender.

There is no indication as to whether the 26-year-old would be interested in leaving Manchester.
