Roberto Martinez wants Manchester City's Jack Rodwell back at Everton?

Everton manager Roberto Martinez will offer Manchester City misfit Jack Rodwell the chance to return to Goodison Park in the summer, according to a report.

Roberto Martinez reportedly wants to end Jack Rodwell's Manchester City nightmare by offering him a move back to Everton in the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old left the Toffees to join the Capital One Cup winners in 2012, but he has only made seven Premier League starts since his £12m switch.

Hamstring injuries have plagued his City career, and he last appeared for Manuel Pellegrini's side when he was hauled off at half time with them losing 2-0 to Championship Watford in the FA Cup in January.

According to The Guardian, Everton failed to re-sign Rodwell on transfer deadline day but are confident of securing his return to Goodison Park in the summer, once City have done their own business.

The Merseysiders currently have Gareth Barry on loan from Eastlands and are also thought to be keen on securing his services on a permanent basis when his City contract expires at the end of the season.
