Man City 'to trigger Ben Chilwell release clause'

Manchester City are reportedly preparing to trigger the £42m release clause in Ben Chilwell's contract.

The England international has been in fine form for Leicester City during the 2018-19 campaign - contributing five assists in 35 Premier League appearances from full-back.

Chilwell only penned a new long-term contract with the Foxes in October 2018, but according to The Telegraph, the deal included a £42m release clause, which City will trigger in this summer's transfer window.

Left-back has been area of concern for the English champions, with Benjamin Mendy struggling for fitness. Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabian Delph have both operated in that area of the field this term, but it is thought that the club will sign a specialist ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

Chilwell, who came through the youth system at Leicester, is nearing 100 first-team appearances for the Foxes.
