Man City 'to bid £22m for Jonny Evans'

Manchester City are reportedly preparing a £22m bid for West Bromwich Albion centre-back Jonny Evans.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that City had failed in an £18m bid for the Northern Ireland international, which led to Baggies boss Tony Pulis insisting that it would take a "very, very good offer" for his club to sell Evans this summer.

According to The Mirror, City boss Pep Guardiola has identified the former Manchester United centre-back as the ideal signing at this stage of the transfer window, and the Spaniard will give the green light on a £22m move.

Evans has recently been made skipper of West Brom after Darren Fletcher left The Hawthorns for Stoke City.

The 29-year-old moved to the Baggies from United in the summer of 2015, and has scored three times in 65 appearances over the last two seasons.
