Manchester City sign their second full-back of the summer after confirming the arrival of Danilo from Real Madrid.

Manchester City have completed the signing of Brazilian defender Danilo from Real Madrid on a five-year deal.

The Citizens are understood to have purchased the 26-year-old for a fee of £26.5m, taking their spending on full-backs alone this summer past the £70m mark.

Reports in the British press suggest that City are also close to finalising a deal for Benjamin Mendy from AS Monaco, completing boss Pep Guardiola's mission of completely overhauling his wide defensive options.

Guardiola had been closing in on the Brazil international over the past fortnight, reportedly beating Premier League rivals Chelsea to the player's signature.

After putting pen to paper on a long-term deal and linking up with his new teammates in the United States, Danilo admitted that he cannot wait to get going.

"I am very, very happy to be joining Manchester City," he told his new club's official website. "There has been strong interest from other clubs, but it has always been my ambition to play for Pep Guardiola.

"As soon as I heard of his interest, I knew immediately I wanted to be a City player. I can't wait to get started and I'm looking forward to getting to know my new teammates over the coming weeks."

Danilo, who has yet to be given a squad number at the Etihad Stadium, played 55 times for Los Blancos during his time at the club.
