Manchester City prepare Martin Skrtel bid

Manchester City are thought to be preparing a £20m bid for Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel.

The Slovakian was voted the club's Player of the Season last year as the Reds won the Carling Cup and reached the FA Cup final.

Premier League champions City are now thought to be interested in landing the 27-year-old after being priced out of signing AC Milan's Thiago Silva, according to The Mirror.

Skrtel moved to Anfield from Zenit St Petersburg in 2008 for £6.5m.
