Manchester City 'join £15m race to sign Reece Oxford'

Manchester City are hoping to snatch Reece Oxford from West Ham United this summer in a £15m deal, according to a report.

West Ham United youngster Reece Oxford has emerged as a reported target for Premier League title challengers Manchester City.

The 17-year-old burst onto the scene on the opening weekend of last season when stifling Arsenal's attacking talents in a surprise win for his side.

Since then Oxford has made just six appearances in the top flight, leading to talk of a move away from the club to gain regular playing time.

Newcastle United are among those thought to have shown an interest but, according to The Sun, Man City are now hoping to make a bid of their own to sign the midfielder on a permanent deal.

West Ham are said to have already rejected a £10m bid for Oxford from German side Red Bull Leipzig, and plan to hold talks with the player in the coming days to keep him in place for the long term.

Oxford - previously linked to Manchester United and Arsenal - helped England Under-19s to victory over the Netherlands on Friday, where a number of scouts were pictured watching on from the stands.
