Maicon nears Manchester City switch

Manchester City are said to be close to completing the signing of Inter Milan defender Maicon.

The Sky Blues will pay £3m for the Brazilian defender, who is about to put pen to paper on a two-year deal worth around £90,000 a week, The Mirror reports.

Maicon, who can serve at right-back or wing-back, played under Man City boss Roberto Mancini during his tenure at Inter.

The news follows reports that Man City midfielder Nigel de Jong is about to complete a £3.5m transfer to Inter's rivals AC Milan.
