Pablo Maffeo leaves Manchester City to join Stuttgart

Manchester City announce that defender Pablo Maffeo has left the Etihad Stadium in order to sign for Stuttgart on a permanent deal.

Defender Pablo Maffeo has left Manchester City in order to sign a deal with German side Stuttgart.

Maffeo has spent the last 16 months with Girona, with 32 appearances coming in the club's first-ever campaign in La Liga.

There had been the prospect of Maffeo returning to the Etihad Stadium to act as deputy to Kyle Walker, but the 20-year-old will now link up with Stuttgart.

The right-back had been with City since 2013, with a total of three matches being played for the North-West giants in cup competitions.

Maffeo featured in the first half of the 2016-17 campaign, with outings coming against Steaua Bucuresti and Celtic in the Champions League and against Manchester United in the EFL Cup.
