Donnarumma addresses future as two European giants 'eye up' PSG hero

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is reportedly attracting interest from at least two European giants.

The 26-year-old has spent almost four full seasons at Parc des Princes since joining on a free transfer from AC Milan and has established himself as one of the best shot-stoppers in world football.

Donnarumma has made 152 appearances for PSG in all competitions, keeping 50 clean sheets, and he has won eight trophies with the French club, including four Ligue 1 titles.

The Italy international played a starring role in helping PSG reaching this season's Champions League final, making several crucial saves to ensure that Luis Enrique's side prevailed 3-1 on aggregate against Arsenal in the semi-finals.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was full of praise for Donnarumma after the match, telling reporters: "When you look at the two games, who has been their best player on the pitch has been the goalkeeper. He's made a difference for them in the tie".

At a time when PSG are dreaming of lifting their first-ever Champions League trophy ahead of the final against Inter Milan on May 31, speculation over Donnarumma's long-term future in Paris has surfaced.

Real Madrid, Bayern considering Donnarumma swoop?

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are weighing up the possibility of making a move for Donnarumma, who will soon be entering the final year of his contract at PSG.

Real Madrid are currently blessed with Thibaut Courtois between the sticks, but like Donnarumma, the soon-to-be 33-year-old goalkeeper will see his contract expire in June 2026 and Los Blancos may soon be in the market for a long-term replacement.

Bayern Munich, meanwhile, arguably have a greater need to pursue a new shot-stopper, as club legend Manuel Neuer, who has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, will turn 40 next year.

Donnarumma addresses his contract situation and future at PSG following their second-leg win over Arsenal on Wednesday, claiming that the club will ultimately make the final decision.

As quoted by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Donnarumma said: "I'm under contract for one more year...it's up to the club. If PSG want me to stay, I'm going to stay. We just have to sign the new contract, but it's up to the club".

Earlier this year, it was reported by Tuttosport, via FCInter1908, that Inter Milan could make a surprise move for Donnarumma, who is also 'admired' by Manchester City, according to Sport Italia, amid uncertainty over the future of their first-choice goalkeeper Ederson.
