Report: Manuel Pellegrini fighting to remain Manchester City manager

Manchester City will reportedly target Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola, should they sack Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the season.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has until the end of the season to prove to the board that he should keep his job, according to reports.

City are in danger of being knocked out of the Champions League by Barcelona after they lost the first leg 2-1, while they sit five points behind Chelsea in the Premier League table.

The Guardian reports that the club are unlikely to tolerate a trophiless season, especially if no progress has been made in the Champions League.

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola is top of their list to replace Pellegrini, should he be sacked, while Rafael Benitez is also thought to be a potential candidate.

Pellegrini will hope to close the gap to Chelsea on Wednesday, as his side host Leicester City.
