Sports Mole looks at how Manchester City could line up in Wednesday's pre-season friendly with Club America.

Erling Braut Haaland could make his Manchester City debut in Wednesday night's pre-season friendly with Mexican outfit Club America.

The Norway international, who has joined the club from Borussia Dortmund this summer, is expected to be given the nod at the tip of the attack for the Premier League champions.

Meanwhile, fellow new signing Kalvin Phillips could line up in midfield, and Stefan Ortega and Julian Alvarez will also be bidding to make their first appearances for the club following their recent arrivals.

Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne are among those expected to be in the starting side on Wednesday, while youngsters Liam Delap and Cole Palmer will also be hoping to earn some minutes.

Man City will be without the services of Phil Foden, John Stones and Ilkay Gundogan, though, with the trio instead set to travel with Man City's Under-23s to Europe.

Pep Guardiola's side will also play two games in America, taking on Club America and Bayern Munich, before facing Liverpool in the Community Shield on July 30.

As a result, Guardiola could decide against making wholesale changes for both games and instead use the group of players that are likely to be involved in the first team next term.

Nathan Ake's proposed return to Chelsea has broken down, with the Dutchman now set to stay at the club, and he could line up alongside Dias in the middle of the defence.

Manchester City possible starting lineup: Ederson; Walker, Dias, Ake, Cancelo; Phillips, Rodri, De Bruyne; Mahrez, Haaland, Bernardo
