Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester City could line up for Wednesday's Premier League clash with Leeds United.

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips will not be available for Wednesday's Premier League showdown with former club Leeds United at Elland Road.

The ex-Whites lynchpin was a peripheral member of England's World Cup squad following his shoulder surgery, and Pep Guardiola admitted that he returned from Qatar overweight.

As a result, Phillips will be one of three absentees for the champions, who are also without the injured Ruben Dias (hamstring), while Julian Alvarez is still celebrating Argentina's World Cup win.

No-one was shocked to see Stefan Ortega start in goal against Liverpool in the EFL Cup, but Ederson should now return to wrestle the gloves back from the German in a much-changed backline.

Only Manuel Akanji could hold his spot at the back from the 3-2 win over the Reds, as Kyle Walker, Joao Cancelo and John Stones all prepare to make their returns to the rearguard.

An unchanged midfield ought to see Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne link arms again, while Leeds-born Erling Braut Haaland leads the line fresh from scoring his 24th goal of the season against Liverpool.

Riyad Mahrez was also on target in that match but could now make way for Bernardo Silva, as Phil Foden seeks to beat Jack Grealish to the left-wing position in the absence of Alvarez.

Manchester City possible starting lineup: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Akanji, Cancelo; Gundogan, Rodri, De Bruyne; B. Silva, Haaland, Foden
