Player Ratings: Manchester City 2-0 Watford

Manchester City made it four Premier League wins out of four by defeating Watford 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

The Sky Blues struggled to break down a stubborn Hornets defence in the first period, but Raheem Sterling's first goal for the club broke the deadlock after the break.

Fernandinho notched up a second to add some gloss to the scoreline as the league leaders held on to register a club record-breaking tenth league win on the spin.

Goal

Joe Hart: Literally did not have a single save to make. (6/10)

Defence

Bacary Sagna: Ensured City did not miss Pablo Zabaleta thanks to some tight defending. Set up the opening goal with an inch-perfect cross. (8/10)

Vincent Kompany: Sharp and fast when required, threw his weight around effectively. (8/10)

Eliaquim Mangala: Was rarely called into action, but stepped up when required. (7/10)

Aleksandar Kolarov: Not as effective going forward as usual, but stepped up when Watford managed to get the ball out of their half. (7/10)

Midfield

Raheem Sterling: Lethal over on the left. Looked determined to nab his first City goal and deserved to get his name on the scoresheet. (9/10)

Jesus Navas: A weak link in the City midfield. Passed the ball poorly throughout. (6/10)

David Silva: A creative force in midfield. Showed great vision and linked up well with Sterling, Toure, and Fernandinho. (8/10)

Fernandinho: Showed off some fancy footwork and impressive team play. Scored a blinder to notch up City's second. (9/10)

Yaya Toure: Struggled to make an impact in the first period, but was involved in virtually every City attack in the second. (7/10)

Attack

Sergio Aguero: Missed a handful of chances he would normally have buried, but his presence was enough to unsettle Watford. (6/10)

Substitutes

Samir Nasri: Added balance to City midfield after replacing the ineffective Navas at half time. (8/10)

Fabian Delph: A brief yet bright appearance by the midfielder. (7/10)

Kelechi Iheanacho: Youngster had no time to make an impact after coming on with a minute remaining. (6/10)

Heurelho Gomes: Pulled off a string of decent saves and could do little about either goal. (7/10)

Allan Nyom: Did well to thwart Aguero early on, but needlessly booked for bringing down Sterling. (6/10)

Sebastian Prodl: Struggled to keep up with the pace set by the City attack. (5/10)

Craig Cathcart: Left standing as Sterling poked home the opener and was outmuscled by Aguero on more than one occasion. (5/10)

Jose Holebas: Kept Aguero quiet in the first half. (7/10)

Midfield

Jose Jurado: One of several ineffective players as Watford lost the midfield battle. (5/10)

Valon Behrami: Gave the ball away and failed to hold back the City attack. (5/10)

Almen Abdi: Was never given the chance to venture forward and support Troy Deeney in the final third. (5/10)

Odion Ighalo: Another advanced midfielder who failed to threaten City. (5/10)
