Bacary Sagna fined £40,000 over Instagram post

Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna is fined £40,000 for misconduct by the FA due to an Instagram post following his side's 2-1 win over Burnley.

Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna has been fined £40,000 by the Football Association for misconduct relating to a comment made on social media earlier this month.

Sagna uploaded a post to Instagram following his side's 2-1 win over Burnley on January 2 claiming that it was "10 against 12" after City had a man sent off in the first half.

The FA deemed that the post, which was later deleted by the Frenchman, "questioned the integrity" of referee Lee Mason, who showed the red card to Fernandinho.

"Bacary Sagna has been fined £40,000 for misconduct in relation to a comment posted on social media," read a statement on the FA's official website.

"The Manchester City defender was also warned as to his future conduct, following the Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.

"The player was charged in that his comment questioned the integrity of the match official and/or alleged and/or implied bias on the part of the match official, and/or brought the game into disrepute contrary to Rule E3 (1)."

Sagna has made 11 Premier League appearances for Man City so far this season.
