Jack Rodwell: 'I'm surprised Manchester City signed me'

Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell has admitted that he was 'surprised' when the club made a move for him last summer.

The 21-year-old, who moved to the Etihad Stadium from Everton for £12m, has struggled to break into the first team due to a host of injuries.

"I was a little bit [surprised], yes, because of the injuries," The Metro quotes Rodwell as saying. "It was a good surprise though. They came in and I was fit at the time."

The England international has made just three starts and 10 appearances for the Premier League champions.
