Manuel Pellegrini looks ahead to next season after 'poor' campaign

Manchester City have thrown away too many points this season but will fight to win the Premier League next year, says Manuel Pellegrini.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that the club are aiming to regain the Premier League title next season.

The two-time champions finished runners-up to Chelsea this year, and the Chilean manager admitted that it has been a bad campaign.

He told BBC Sport: "I am not happy with the way we worked the whole year, we lost too many points against teams in relegated positions. We lost stupid points, but I assure you we are going to grow as a club next season.

"The most important target for us is to recover the title next season, and I believe we are not far away from doing that."

City ended the season with a 2-0 win over Southampton.
