Manuel Pellegrini "delighted" with Nicolas Otamendi deal

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has stated that he is "delighted" to have signed Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia.

The Argentina defender has completed his move to the Etihad Stadium after agreeing a five-year deal.

Pellegrini is confident that Otamendi will adapt to Premier League football.

"Nicolas Otamendi was arguably the best defender in La Liga last season and so naturally I'm delighted to have added a player of his quality," the Chilean told City's official website.

"He is an established international for one of the best nations in world football and I have no doubt that he has the right mentality to fit into the squad.

"Nicolas has all of the qualities to be a success in the Premier League - he's strong, he's excellent in the tackle and he's very good technically."

Otamendi scored six goals in 35 La Liga appearances last season.
