Shay Given defends Man City's transfer activity

Former Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given defends his old club's transfer activity in pursuit of the Premier League title.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given has claimed that his former club Manchester City are not buying the Premier League title.

Given believes that the club's transfer activities are nothing new and doesn't believe that they are doing anything wrong in their pursuit of the title.

The Republic of Ireland international told BBC Radio Five Live: "Years ago I was at Blackburn and Jack Walker had a lot of money and he invested in the team and Blackburn Rovers won the league, and I think if you look at the recent success of Chelsea and Manchester United they have had lots of investment in the team too.

"It's just that Manchester City have done it over a shorter period than the bigger clubs. But it's part and parcel of modern-day football."

Manchester City are currently first in the Premier League.
