Kevin De Bruyne equals Cesc Fabregas's Premier League assist record

De Bruyne equals Fabregas's Premier League assist record

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne equalled Cesc Fabregas's Premier League assist tally in Saturday's 4-0 win over Fulham.

The Citizens moved to the top of the table with a dominant victory at Craven Cottage thanks to a Josko Gvardiol brace, a Phil Foden strike and a Julian Alvarez penalty.

Although he did not get on the scoresheet, De Bruyne still managed to play his part in the win, providing the assist for Gvardiol to open the scoring in the 13th minute.

After receiving the ball from Gvardiol, the 32-year-old sent his first-time ball back into the Croatian's path, helping to create the opening for a precise right-footed finish.

De Bruyne equals Fabregas's assist record

That well-weighted pass represented De Bruyne's 111th Premier League assist, moving him joint-second with Fabregas in the all-time Premier League assists chart.

While Fabregas hit that figure in 350 top-flight matches, De Bruyne required just 258 games to equal the Spaniard's tally.

Despite sitting in second place, De Bruyne is still 51 shy of Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs, who is the all-time Premier League record holder with 162 assists.

Although he has missed half of the season through injury, the Belgian has still managed to register nine Premier League assists this season.

That tally leaves him level with Man City teammate Rodri and just three short of the top-flight's current leader, Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins.

Rodri continues unbeaten run

After playing the full duration at Craven Cottage, Rodri has gone 48 Premier League appearances without finishing on the losing team.

Rodri's impressive record has only been bettered by former Arsenal defender Sol Campbell, who featured in 56 games without defeat between November 2002 and October 2004.

The Spain international also helped his side set a new English football record for the longest winning run that a club has had against a single opponent.

Having established a two-point lead over Arsenal, Man City will wait to find out if the Gunners can offer a response in Sunday's game against Manchester United.

Pep Guardiola's side will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to North London for a meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.
